Caroline Ashton
Graduate Lawyer
Caroline completed her Bachelor of Laws at Deakin University, graduating in the top 4% of law students where she received the Dean’s Merits List Prize. She recently completed her practical legal training with Leo Cussen Centre for Law and will be admitted into the legal profession in late 2023.
Caroline was a registered perioperative nurse (specialising in intraoperative, anaesthetics and recovery) and previously taught the Bachelor of Nursing at Deakin University. Caroline happened to be teaching a seminar one day about medical negligence, clinical governance, and risk management, which planted the seed of interest in law. She decided to transition into law because she wanted to challenge herself and broaden her career horizons.
In her spare time, Caroline loves to paint and draw using watercolours, acrylics, ink, and digital mediums. It is a long-held dream of hers to travel the world and sketch all the buildings and landscapes she can. She also enjoys singing, playing guitar, and writing. She has even incorporated her hobbies into the legal setting as the illustrator for the LIV YL Bootcamp, and writing articles for the Law Institute of Victoria.
Legal experience
Caroline enjoys a variety of areas of law and has experience in the following areas:
- Litigation, including contractual, equitable, construction (both domestic and commercial), Security of Payment Act, and employment disputes;
- Charities, including setup and registration, corporate restructuring, and ongoing governance;
- Wills and estates, including drafting of Wills, and applying for grant of probate or letters of administration; and
- Corporate matters involving ongoing business management and operations.
